Week of April 24th

This week in the middle school we worked on our individual expert projects, threw a yearbook signing party, and had the 6th graders visit for a practice map.

On Monday, we had our 2nd expert project due-date, with our first draft , a longer outline, and other things due that are important in the process of writing the expert project . The expert project is long-term, 8-page, research paper, on a topic you are very interested in.  Some of the subjects people are doing are; mathematics, the periodic table, cannabis, the history of fighter planes, the America’s Cup, and so on.   This research paper teaches; time management, writing skills, editing, researching, note taking, ect.

The 6th graders visited our classroom on Friday, to learn about our theme map cycles, and to get a feel for their upcoming years in middle school.  They were given a short map for the day, and had fun doing a small research project for their own.  When the Middle schoolers weren’t working on painting our space themed fire pit for the auction with Ms. Angie, we helped the 6th graders on their assignments.

After school on Friday, we threw a very fun yearbook signing party for the younger kids in the school.   We had a photo booth, punch, snacks, and a signing scavenger hunt to get people with the listed trait to sign your yearbook.  The middle school cafe dining room was dressed to impress and we had many people come and buy yearbooks.  Because of the popularity of this signing party, we will most likely have it in years to come.

This week was very good in the middle school classroom, and next week will be even better.   Thank you for reading,
